Last minute Bungle!

Talk about last minute!  We had decided to skip the Bungle Bungles and combine it with a future trip, when we eventually do the Gibb River Road with older children and a more suitable camper trailer or tent!  We knew the kids wouldn't do any of the big walks (and didn't want to drive 50km in 3hrs for the domes walk which takes 10 minutes!) and Jack was refusing to go on a helicopter - that is until we got to the Turkey Creek Roadhouse!  Then he said he might do it - so I ambled across to the tiny demountable office and booked us in to leave immediately - luckily before any of us could chicken out!

Jack sat up the front with the pilot and went mad taking photos on my iPhone while Phil, Jess and I sat in the back WITHOUT ANY DOORS!!! Great for taking photos but I don't think either of us really relaxed during the 45min flight!  Why haven't they invented half doors for helicopters yet?  Jess, however, fell asleep on the way back!

Cool dudes!

Yikes - is Jess in the pilot seat!!

That's better, now she is tucked between us!

"What am I doing?" says Jack

Looking the part!

Wondering if this was the fire that worsened the following week and caused the closure of the Bungle Bungles due to smoke?

First you fly over the amazing Osbourne Ranges which look like ski jumps!

Huge gorges...

Cathedral gorge which you can do a hike over a few days

Cathedral gorge trail below

Following the cathedral gorge trail

First glimpse of the domes

More domes - amazing!

They look small from the air but actually really large so it would also be amazing to walk amongst them - but you wouldn't appreciate how many there are without flying over them (apart from photos of course!)

This is the dome walk that you can do

Another gorge as we flew out

He almost dropped it out the window he confessed later!!

Our photographer!

Turkey Creek - houses in foreground cost $1 million each to build!!

Safe and sound!
